Former archaeologist Langdon Plaster loves the outdoors. When he came to Stanleytown Health & Rehabilitation Center, he was facing a string of health setbacks. Our Occupational Therapy team wanted to learn more about how to motivate him through his recovery journey. When they found out he was a former boy scout, the team got together and made a makeshift campsite for him, right in the courtyard of our Center. The campsite was complete with a tent, camping chairs, and even a fire pit. Mr. Plaster was completely overcome by the gesture. He was able to get out of his wheelchair and even start his first fire in years.
Our LifeWorks Rehab therapy team works very hard to make therapy creative and personal to our patients. We were honored this special story about our team and their thoughtfulness was recently featured in the Fall edition of Our Health Magazine Southside.
